The Relationship Between Depression, Fatigue in male and female middle School Students

Abstract
Purpose: The Purpose of this study was to identify the correlation between the depression and subject characteristics in middle school boys and girls.

Methods: This study conducted a questionnaires survey of 429 middle school students. Data was collected from 24th of March and 11th of April 2008, and analyzed through frequency and percentage, mean and SD, x©÷-test, t-test, AVOVA using SPSS 12.0

Results: 1)The mean score of depression was 9.88¡¾4.45(boy), 11.02¡¾4.89(girls). 2)The mean score of fatigue was 52.39¡¾13.09(boys), 52.06¡¾9.90(girls). 3)The BMI was classified into 3 groups: over weight(23.0?BMI), normal(18.5?BMI?23.0) low wt.(BM?I18.5). 4)Depression was not related with Subject Characteristics in middle School Boys and Girls. 5)Fatigue was significantly correlated with father¡¯s education level and income. 6)Depression and fatigue was significantly correlations(r=.557, p=.000).

Conclusion: The findings of this study showed that depression level for girls is higher than boys, and degree of fatigue for middle school boy is on a level with girls. So the program to reduce the level of depression and fatigue for middle school students must be developed.
